Conditions Affecting B Availability
- High pH soil
- Over limed soil – or calcareous soils
- Soil with high level of N and Ca
- Sandy soil which can be easily leached
- Eroded Soil with low Organic matter
- High rates of nitrogen or potassium used
- Cold climatic condition followed by long dry spell
- Coarse textured, well drained, sandy soils and soils with low organic matter can all reduce Boron
- Boron deficiencies decrease the rate of water absorption, root growth, and translocation of sugars in plants
